A good drywall patch is invisible only if the feathering is right. Feather the mud, feather the sanding, and you'll never see it again.

Knock down the proud mud
Sanding sponge with a flat face. Work outward from the patch.

Hand sand with a wider sponge. Feather the edges further than feels right.

Watch out for
The things that quietly ruin the job.
- ·Feather wider than you think. A 2" patch should feather 6-8" out.
- ·Prime the whole patched area before painting. Mud absorbs paint differently than the surrounding wall.
